Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) – The Somali National Army (SNA) has successfully neutralized 27 members of the Al-Shabaab militant group, known locally as Khawarij in a decisive military operation in the Lower Jubba region. The operation, which took place in Bar Sangouni, an area within the Jamame district, marks a significant blow to the terror group’s activities in the region.

According to official reports, the SNA also captured five militants during the operation. This strategic victory came as a response to an attempted attack by the Khawarij on a Somali National Army position. The vigilant SNA troops, armed with critical intelligence, were able to thwart the attack and inflict a major defeat on the militants.

The recent operations have showcased the bravery and resilience of the Somali Armed Forces. With the support of international allies and the Somali populace, the SNA has been making substantial progress in combating the Khawarij threat across various regions of the nation.

The Federal Government of Somalia extends its gratitude to the international community and the Somali people for their unwavering support in the ongoing struggle to free the nation from the grip of the Khawarij. The collective efforts have been instrumental in safeguarding the sovereignty and peace of Somalia.
