Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Somali National Army (SNA), in coordination with international partners, particularly United States, carried out a planned operation tonight in Saakow District, Middle Juba Region.
The operation targeted a factory used by Al-Shabaab for the production and preparation of explosive devices, which was the largest explosives facility operated by the group. The facility was completely destroyed during the operation.
In addition, the airstrike resulted in the elimination of 18 Al-Shabaab militants, including engineers involved in the manufacture of explosives and in activities aimed at harming the Somali people.
The Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Army Command reaffirm their commitment to intensifying counter-terrorism operations and strengthening efforts to safeguard the safety and security of the public. These sustained operations demonstrate the close cooperation between the Somali National Armed Forces and international partners in the continued effort to defeat Al-Shabaab and protect the Somali nation.
