Middle Shabelle, SONNA – The Somali National Army (SNA), in coordination with local allied forces, successfully expelled the remnants of the Khawarij militant group from the Masajid Ali Gudud district and the Geelgub area in a major operation conducted today in the Middle Shabelle region. The operation, codenamed “Silent Storm,” marks another significant step in the ongoing campaign to clear terrorist elements from central Somalia.

Speaking to national media, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Sheikh Abuukar Macalin, confirmed that the operation was carried out with precision and effectiveness, targeting remaining pockets of Khawarij fighters in the region.

“A blessed operation named Silent Storm was conducted by our forces and local allies to clear out the remnants of the Khawarij. The operation has been successful, and the enemy has been driven from Masajid Ali Gudud and Geelgub,” said Sheikh Abuukar.

Following the liberation of these areas, Somali forces have initiated mine clearance efforts to ensure the safety of civilians and facilitate the return of normal life. According to the spokesperson, there were no casualties reported among the government or allied forces during the operation.

“Our troops did not suffer any losses. The forces are now in the process of assessing the extent of damage inflicted on the enemy,” Sheikh Abuukar added.

The operation reflects the continued momentum of government-led offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace in the country’s central regions. The Ministry of Defense reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the pressure on terrorist elements until all liberated areas are fully stabilized and secure.
