Her death in Hargeisa has deeply saddened the Somali artistic community and the public.

Khadija Qalanjo was a cherished member of the national Waaberi Band and was celebrated for her significant role in the advancement of Somali art, literature, and culture. She holds a unique place in history as one of the pioneering artists whose traditional songs were selected to be featured on Somali National Television during its inauguration in October 1983.
