Nairobi, Kenya (SONNA) – The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Somalia, Mr. Bashir Mohamed Jama, met with the German Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Sebastian Groth, in Nairobi today. The productive discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation to tackle climate change and environmental challenges.
Accompanied by Somali Ambassador to Kenya, Ambassador Jabriil Ibrahim Cabdlle, Mr. Jama emphasized the critical need for collaborative efforts in addressing climate change adaptation and environmental management. The German Ambassador reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s environmental initiatives, reflecting a strengthening partnership between the two nations.
The talks were attended by key diplomats from the German Embassy, subject matter experts from Somalia’s Ministry of Environment, and other distinguished guests. The meeting underscored the importance of international cooperation in building resilient environmental strategies and sustainable development practices.
Ambassador Groth highlighted Germany’s ongoing support for Somalia, stating, “Germany is dedicated to aiding Somalia in its efforts to combat climate change and safeguard its environment. Our continued collaboration will foster sustainable progress for future generations.”
