Ankara, SONNA – A high-level delegation from the Federal Government of Somalia has commenced a media exchange visit to Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The visit aims to foster collaboration and share expertise in media and public relations between the two friendly nations.
The delegation is led by the Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdirahman Yusuf Omar (Al-Adaala). Accompanying him are Media Directors from the Offices of the President and the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Information, and Senior Advisors in Media Relations.
During their visit, the Somali delegation has already engaged with several prominent Turkish institutions. They toured the Turkish Television and Radio Centers (TRT), one of the world’s largest media organizations, where they received presentations on its operational methods and explored its studios and archives.
A significant part of the visit included a stop at the Havelsan Defense Center. Here, the delegation learned about advancements in communications and technology, and its pivotal role in the development of land, air, and sea defense capabilities, observing Turkey’s rapid progress in this sector. Turkey is recognized as one of Somalia’s closest friends and steadfast supporters.
The delegation also visited the headquarters of the Anadolu News Agency, where they embarked on a two-day workshop. This session focuses on critical aspects of media management, including preparing and managing media relations during elections, crisis management, and strategies for preventing fraud and misinformation.
The working visit, which emphasizes the sharing of experience in media and public relations, is being hosted by the Directorate of Media Relations of the Turkish Presidency. The Somali officials are scheduled to visit other relevant facilities, including the Directorate’s headquarters, as part of their comprehensive exchange program.
