Mogadishu (SONNA): The Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency today held a ceremony to hand over a $14,400 donation collected by its staff to the youth of the Daryeel Bulsho Organization, an active group providing aid during droughts and assisting vulnerable Somali communities. The funds are intended to supply affected populations with water, food, and emergency relief.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salad, Chairman of the Somali Scholars’ Council, attending the ceremony, emphasized the importance of Somalis helping and supporting one another during difficult times such as droughts.
The Chairman of Daryeel Bulsho, Mohamed Ali Siyad (Champion), stated that the Immigration and Citizenship Agency became the first government body to respond to their humanitarian call and expressed gratitude for the agency staff’s commitment and role.
Osman Muxiyadiin Shaatax, Chairperson of the Civil Society Organizations Forum, expressed broad appreciation to the agency, noting that this initiative could encourage other institutions to participate in drought relief efforts.
Finally, Mustafa Dhuxulow, Director-General of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency, encouraged Somali youth to continue their role in humanitarian and community support initiatives. He also noted with concern that there are Somalis currently dying due to lack of water, stressing the importance of Somalis taking responsibility to support their brothers and sisters affected by drought and strengthening relief efforts.
