Mogadishu, SONNA – A delegation led by the Director General of Somalia’s Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA), Mr. Mustafa Duhulow, recently concluded a working visit to Oslo, Norway, and Helsinki, Finland. During the visit, the delegation held important meetings with officials from the respective countries’ immigration, border security, and citizenship agencies.
The discussions in both capitals focused heavily on several key areas:
- Strengthening cooperation between the immigration and citizenship agencies.
- Accelerating the recognition of Somali passports and facilitating legal travel.
- Enhancing border security through the use of modern technology.
- Modernizing ICA services, including visa processing, residency permits, passport issuance, and identity verification.
- Preventing organized crime and combating human trafficking.
- Improving the knowledge and skills of ICA staff.
- Establishing a training academy and developing a formal curriculum for staff development.
These fruitful meetings are expected to help address existing challenges, enhance the reputation of the Somali passport, and facilitate international travel for Somali citizens.
