Mogadisho (SONNA)-Somali government is taking on great initiatives in reviving the country’s tourism sector and promoting tourism investment sector,SONNA reported.
The Acting minister of information,Culture and Tourism H.E Mohamed Abdi Hayir (Mareye) deleiverd a speech at the occasion of somalia tourism day which was held in the capital city of Mogadishu on the 13th of Septemper.
Minister Mareye higlighted the important role of tourism in expanding economic opportunity and providing a pathway to prosperity in Somalia.
The minister added that the ministry has prepared the national tourism development plan to revive the country’s tourism sector.
National tourism development plan will greatly benefit Somalia’s tourism and will provide investment opportunities,create jobs and boost the country’s economy.
“Starting from 13th of September till 27th of september(14days)we will celebrate somalia tourism days. During these 14 days,we will present Somalia’s tourist attractions to promote for somali tourism.”Minister Mareye said.
The ministry will conduct a national competition to showcase somalia’s tourist attractions in all regions and towns where the lucky winners will be rwarded.
The ministry is working on implementing an online system to record tourist sights in somalia.
The ceremony was attended by the ministry’s Director -General Mr.Abdulrahman Yussef Al-Adala,Director of tourism dept Ms.Farhiya Saman,Galmudug’s minister of information Mr.Ahmed shire Falagale,representatives from regional administrations and private sector commended on the current progress done by the tourism department,calling on to joint work to boost national tourism
Somalia has great potential to thrive and has the ability to attract tourists from around the world every year.
