Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali government has successfully repatriated 145 citizens who had faced various hardships in Libya. These individuals, primarily youth, were brought back as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to assist its citizens suffering abroad.
Thirty-seven of the returnees were received at the Hargeisa International Airport, while the remaining 108 arrived at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu. The returnees in Mogadishu were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Isak Mohamud Mursal, along with other government officials.
The government has been making significant efforts to bring home Somali nationals who have been subjected to exploitation and mistreatment in foreign countries, particularly in Libya, where many have endured severe hardships.
This repatriation highlights Somalia’s commitment to supporting its citizens abroad and addressing the challenges faced by the Somali diaspora.
