MOGADISHU – The Somali government has reiterated its strong commitment to tackling youth unemployment by announcing a new initiative aimed at creating more job opportunities for young people across the country. The pledge was made during a recent ceremony that saw the launch of a modern system designed to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers.
The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Amina Hussein Ali, highlighted the government’s dedication to addressing one of the nation’s most pressing challenges. She unveiled the new online platform, a modern system that will serve as a central hub for job opportunities. This system will feature job listings from the Federal Government of Somalia, private companies, and various international organizations, all in one accessible location.
The launch event was attended by key stakeholders, including officials from government ministries, non-governmental organizations, and international partners who are actively involved in supporting youth job creation programs in Somalia. The new system is seen as a crucial step towards a more structured and transparent approach to employment, helping young Somalis find work and contribute to the country’s development. The government’s continued focus on this area underscores its broader strategy to empower the youth and foster economic growth.
