MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Federal Government of Somalia has declared a significant achievement in resolving tensions with Ethiopia. The announcement was made by Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adaala, the Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, highlighting the successful conclusion of efforts to avert a potentially dangerous situation for the nation after a year of rigorous work.
“After a year of hard work, we have stopped an attempt that was dangerous to the nation. It was a difficult task that bore fruit. All thanks are due to God Almighty, after the leaders of the nation and the Somali citizens who defended their country with unity and firm stance. Insha’Allah, our nation will succeed and overcome the challenges,” stated Minister Al-Adaala.
This proclamation follows a critical meeting in Ankara, hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which brought together President of Somalia His Excellency Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The meeting, which lasted several hours, concluded with both leaders agreeing on the importance of mutual respect, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
The dialogue, facilitated by President Erdogan, fostered a cordial and constructive atmosphere, enabling both sides to reaffirm their commitment to resolving differences through peaceful means. The leaders agreed on the necessity of maintaining respect for each other’s sovereignty and national integrity, setting a foundation for future cooperative efforts.
