Foreign Minister Holds Telephone Talks with Yemen, OIC Secretary-General

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, held separate telephone conversations with Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Afrah Abdulaziz Al-Zouba, and the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H.E. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
During his conversation with the Yemeni Foreign Minister, H.E. Abdisalam discussed strengthening bilateral relations and the latest developments in Yemen. He reaffirmed Somalia’s support for Yemen’s unity, security and stability.
The two ministers also underscored the shared interests of Somalia and Yemen, particularly maritime security and the safety of international shipping across the Gulf of Aden.
In his conversation with the OIC Secretary-General, H.E. Abdisalam congratulated H.E. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on assuming his new position and discussed Somalia’s cooperation with the Organization.
The discussions reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral partnerships in support of shared interests and regional cooperation.
