Mogadishu, 07 September 2023 – The Somali Government has confirmed that a special operation conducted by the National Army and the National Security Forces has resulted in the elimination of three senior leaders of the Alshabaab Khawarij, a terrorist cell that has been terrorizing in Galmudug.

The operation, which took place on Tuesday in the west of Eeel-La Helay, targeted Olol Ali Guuleed, who was the head of the coordination of the Khawarij groups, Shuuke Ali Dheeg and Ise Barre, who were also two fugitives wanted by the authorities.

The Somali Government stated that the operation was planned and executed with skill and precision, and that it broke the backbone of the Khawarij, especially those who were terrorizing Galmudug.

The Somali Government also expressed its gratitude to the people of the region who supported the facilitation of the operation, and reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Somali people to eliminate the Khawarij who are behind the attacks on the people and the country, and to also eradicate their ideology and actions.

The Somali Government urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the security forces.
