MOGADISHU – In a move aimed at easing the financial burden on prospective pilgrims, the Somali government has officially announced a significant reduction in the cost of Hajj for the year 1447 Hijri, or 2026. The new price has been set at $4,543, a notable decrease from the previous year’s cost.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Mukhtaar Roobow Ali, who emphasized that the decision was made with the Somali people’s needs and circumstances in mind. The government’s goal is to make the holy pilgrimage more accessible and affordable for its citizens, allowing more of the faithful to fulfill their religious duties.

Minister Mukhtaar also highlighted Somalia’s rising stature in the global Hajj management landscape, proudly stating that the country now ranks fourth in providing services to pilgrims from the Islamic world. He extended his gratitude to the Saudi government for its crucial role in providing essential support and services to pilgrims, which greatly contributes to the smooth execution of the pilgrimage.

This cost reduction is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline Hajj operations and ensure pilgrims receive comprehensive and cost-effective services. The ministry remains committed to further reviewing and adjusting costs to ensure the pilgrimage is as affordable as possible for all Somalis.
