Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Ahmed Moallin Fiqi, has announced that the Somali government has made substantial progress in strengthening the country’s foreign relations. Speaking to national media, Minister Fiqi highlighted the government’s success in restoring diplomatic ties and enhancing cooperation with friendly nations.

“The Somali government has succeeded in restoring diplomatic relations and cooperation with international governments, particularly those that have shown goodwill toward Somalia,” Fiqi stated. He emphasized that the government’s approach prioritizes peaceful and mutually beneficial solutions in its international engagements.

The Minister reiterated Somalia’s commitment to maintaining constructive relationships with other nations while safeguarding the interests of the Somali people. “Our decision is to find satisfactory solutions that avoid conflict with international partners and ensure that our foreign relations benefit our citizens,” he added.

In a notable achievement, Minister Fiqi pointed out Somalia’s recent election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), marking a significant milestone in the country’s diplomatic resurgence. “It is a moment of pride for Somalia to join the Security Council and stand among key global actors, reaffirming our presence on the international stage,” he said.

The Minister’s remarks underscore the government’s efforts to re-establish Somalia as an active and respected player in global affairs, following years of instability. The progress in foreign policy aligns with broader initiatives to promote peace, security, and economic development in the region.

As Somalia continues to strengthen its international partnerships, the government remains focused on fostering stability and prosperity for its people while contributing to global diplomatic efforts.
