Algiers, (SONNA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, today held a key meeting with his Algerian counterpart, H.E. Ahmed Attaf, in Algiers, the capital of Algeria.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Somalia and Algeria, particularly in the areas of defense, security, education, vocational training, and livestock. The two ministers agreed to establish a joint ministerial committee to enhance cooperation and further develop ties between the two nations.
The meeting also addressed regional issues, including the situations in Sudan, the Gaza Strip, the Horn of Africa, and the Sahel region. Both sides underscored the importance of genuine collaboration to achieve lasting stability across the region.
Minister Abdisalam expressed his gratitude to the Government of Algeria for its consistent support to the Somali people and their unity, describing the relationship between the two countries as historic and deeply rooted.
For his part, Minister Ahmed Attaf thanked his Somali counterpart for the visit and for his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, pledging that Algeria will continue its support to Somalia.
