Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, SONNA – Mr. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the Federal Government of Somalia, held a productive meeting with Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The important discussion took place on the sidelines of the 47th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, which recently concluded in Malabo, the capital city of Equatorial Guinea.

The two foreign ministers engaged in extensive discussions regarding the longstanding historical relationship between Somalia and Nigeria. They emphasized the importance of continuing and enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including politics, economy, diplomacy, and the advancement of shared interests between the two prominent African nations.

Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali and Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar also touched upon facilitating high-level visits between Mogadishu and Abuja. This initiative is an integral part of ongoing efforts to further strengthen the bonds and collaboration between the two countries.

Furthermore, the ministers reached a mutual understanding on the need for close collaboration in regional peace and security initiatives. Specifically, they agreed to intensify joint efforts in combating terrorism and enhancing intelligence sharing mechanisms to address common security challenges effectively.
