Mogadishu, SONNA – Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Abdisalan Abdi Ali, today chaired a virtual meeting with the Federal Republic of Somalia’s Ambassadors, Permanent Missions, and Consulates General abroad. The meeting was convened with the aim of enhancing coordination and strengthening diplomatic cooperation across Somalia’s foreign representations.
During the session, Minister Ali directed the heads of the diplomatic missions to prepare annual work plans that are in line with the country’s foreign policy objectives and the National Transformation Plan. He emphasized the importance of improving cooperation and communication channels between the embassies, permanent missions, and consulates general and the relevant departments within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Minister also called on the diplomatic missions to submit regular monthly and quarterly reports on their activities.
The virtual assembly also yielded recommendations for the heads of Somalia’s foreign missions. These included a call to enhance Somalia’s overall representation internationally, expedite the provision of services to Somali citizens residing abroad, and actively strengthen strategic partnerships with the countries where the embassies are located.
