Kampala, Uganda – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ambassador Ahmed Moallin Fiqi, participated in a high-profile ministerial conference in Kampala, Uganda in a significant step towards enhancing regional cooperation and agricultural development. The event served as a precursor to the forthcoming African Union summit, also slated to be held in Kampala.

Ambassador Fiqi was joined by a distinguished Somali delegation, including Mr. Hamse Haadow, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Fardowsa Mohamed Qanyare, Somalia’s envoy to Uganda.

The central focus of the conference was the formulation of a comprehensive agricultural development strategy for African nations, spanning the decade from 2026 to 2035. Attendees emphasized the urgency of enhancing agricultural productivity and achieving self-sufficiency across the continent. Ministers from various African countries emphasized the need for robust implementation frameworks to ensure the success of this ambitious agenda.

As the conference entered its second day, it welcomed the participation of African Ministers of Agriculture, who engaged in critical discussions about the future of agriculture on the continent. These deliberations are expected to play an important role in shaping policies that will drive sustainable agricultural growth and food security in Africa.

Ambassador Fiqi’s active involvement in the conference highlights Somalia’s commitment to regional collaboration and its dedication to contributing to the collective development goals of African nations. His presence and participation prove Somalia’s strategic role in addressing the continent’s agricultural challenges and opportunities.

The outcomes of this ministerial conference are poised to influence the discussions and decisions at the upcoming African Union summit, setting the stage for a unified approach to agricultural development and food security across Africa.
