Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali National Army’s 64th Battalion, in coordination with the Walawayn District Police, has conducted a joint operation to eliminate extremist elements and enhance security in the Lower Shabelle region. The initiative focused on tracking down insurgents and ensuring the safety of local communities.
Officials confirmed that the operation covered several key areas, including Aybuuley, Isgaad, Hoo Hook, Fulaaley, Garfaale, Dibati, Qabiibiyow, Tuhur Qaboobey, Waraxley, Cali Boonad, Lugud Jiliwayne, and Baladul Amiin. Security personnel aimed to dismantle militant hideouts and restore stability in these vulnerable villages.
Commander Cali Cabdullahi Halac of the 64th Battalion and Walawayn District Police Commander Cabdulle Isaaq jointly called on local residents to cooperate with the security forces. They urged the public to share information on any suspected activities, underscoring that community support is key to achieving lasting peace in the region.
