Mogadishu, (SONNA) — Somali National Army troops, alongside local forces in the Hiiraan region, launched a heavy multi-front offensive early this morning targeting Al-Shabaab militants who had fled recent battles in the Ceelhareeri area, located under Moqokori district.
The coordinated assault struck militant positions on the outskirts of Garas-Magan and Ceelhareeri, where the extremists had regrouped following their retreat from previous clashes. According to military officials leading the operation, the militants were swiftly dislodged from their hideouts.
Speaking to the national media, senior commanders confirmed that the operation inflicted heavy losses on the enemy and forced them out of key positions where they had attempted to fortify themselves after sustaining defeats in recent days.
The latest offensive marks a continued push by Somali forces to eliminate Al-Shabaab strongholds and restore security across Hiiraan, in line with the government’s broader counter-terrorism strategy.
