Algiers, Algeria – The Minister of Finance of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Bihi Imaan Ige, held a productive meeting with the President of the OPEC Fund for International Development, Mr. Abdulhamid Al-Khalifa, and other fund officials. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the annual gathering of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Algiers.
Minister Ige was accompanied by Somalia’s Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Yusuf Ahmed Hassan, also known as “Yusuf Jeego,” and the President of the Somali Bank for Development and Reconstruction, Ms. Hodan Adan Osman.
While specific details of the discussions were not immediately released, the presence of such a high-level Somali delegation at the IsDB annual meeting and their direct engagement with the OPEC Fund signals Somalia’s ongoing efforts to attract investment and foster international partnerships for its development agenda.
The OPEC Fund for International Development is an intergovernmental development finance institution established by the member states of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). It works to foster sustainable development, bolster self-reliance, and stimulate economic growth in developing countries. This meeting is expected to pave the way for potential future collaborations and financing opportunities for Somalia’s development projects.
