Nairobi, (SONNA) — Last night, in honor of the 65th anniversary of the independence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Somali Embassy in Kenya hosted a high-profile national celebration at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

The event, organized with exceptional attention to detail, was attended by a large number of Somali nationals residing in Kenya and served as a powerful display of national unity, patriotism, and enduring love for the homeland. The atmosphere throughout the evening reflected the deep emotional bond Somalis continue to hold for their country—regardless of where they live.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Jabriil Ibrahim Abdulle, Somalia’s envoy to Kenya, emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by Somali heroes in the struggle for independence. He noted that, 65 years on, Somalia remains committed to progress, recovery, and national unity. The ambassador also highlighted the strong and growing ties between Somalia and Kenya, describing the relationship as one rooted in neighborliness, cooperation, and lasting mutual interests.

The Somali Embassy expressed its sincere gratitude to the event’s organizers, artists, creatives, community leaders, and all distinguished guests who took part in the celebration. Special thanks were extended to Kenyan partners and friends who joined in commemorating Somalia’s national day, standing in solidarity with the Somali people.

The embassy reaffirmed its confidence that the partnership between Somalia and Kenya will continue to grow, contributing to a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Horn of Africa.
