Mogadishu, SONNA – The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency Amb. Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani, Roving Ambassador of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) for the GCC Region, on being awarded the prestigious “David B. Kriser Medal” by New York University. This honor, the highest distinction granted by NYU, recognizes His Excellency’s exceptional contributions to healthcare, education, and humanitarian causes.

In a press statement issued today, the Commissioner of SoDMA praised Amb. Dr. AlMadani for his visionary leadership and tireless efforts in addressing critical humanitarian challenges globally. The statement highlighted the profound impact of his work, which has transformed lives and inspired countless individuals and organizations to prioritize compassion, innovation, and collaboration in their missions.

“As an agency at the forefront of humanitarian and emergency response in Somalia, we are deeply inspired by His Excellency’s commitment to advancing healthcare and education—essential pillars for sustainable development and resilience,” the statement read. “His achievements resonate with our mission to alleviate suffering, empower communities, and build a brighter future for those in need.”

The David B. Kriser Medal, awarded for the first time to a recipient outside the United States, underscores the global significance of Amb. Dr. AlMadani’s work. It also highlights the United Arab Emirates’ leadership in fostering excellence and innovation in humanitarian and developmental initiatives.

SoDMA commended Amb. Dr. AlMadani for his outstanding contributions and for being a beacon of hope and progress in the humanitarian sector. The agency expressed its admiration for his alignment with the values and aspirations of SoDMA and its mission to support vulnerable communities in Somalia and beyond.

“This historic recognition is a recognition to His Excellency’s dedication and the UAE’s commitment to global humanitarian efforts,” the statement continued. “We look forward to continued collaboration and shared commitment to improving the lives of those in need.”

The Somali Disaster Management Agency reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside global leaders like Amb. Dr. AlMadani to address humanitarian challenges and build a more sustainable and equitable future.
