Mogadishu, SONNA – Somalia’s Attorney General, Dr. Suleyman Mohamed Mahmoud, speaking to national media, highlighted the severe problems associated with dangerous migration journeys undertaken by individuals risking their lives by land and sea.
The Attorney General specifically noted the tragic loss of life among many young people on these illegal journeys, which he attributed to smuggling gangs operating without sympathy or regard for the community, particularly the youth.
In his address, Dr. Mahmoud appealed directly to young people to recognize their inherent value and cautioned them against embarking on such perilous travels. He also called upon parents and community groups to work collaboratively with authorities to tackle crimes related to human trafficking networks.
Attorney General Dr. Suleyman Mohamed Mahmoud urged anyone possessing information about smuggling activities to come forward and contact security agencies. He sternly warned that individuals found to be involved in such activities would face legal proceedings and be brought before the courts.
