Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Somali National Army (SNA), with the support of local residents, apprehended two members of the Khawarij extremist group in an operation in the southern region of Mudug this morning.
According to Maslah Ma’alin Ilmi, the secretary of the Harardhere district administration, the militants were planting landmines in the area of Gabdhale, east of Aad, when they were captured by the SNA forces.
The SNA and the regional forces are conducting ongoing operations to eliminate the remaining Khawarij elements in Mudug, as more and more leaders and fighters of the group are surrendering to the authorities.
