Somali Armed Forces Successfully Repel Attack in Raskamboni

Mogadishu, SONNA – The Somali National Armed Forces (SNA), and Jubaland Dervish, stationed at forward operating bases in Raskamboni, Lower Juba, successfully repelled an attack early this morning. The assault was carried out by regional troops under the direction of former Jubaland leader Ahmed Madoobe.

The SNA forces, alongside the Jubaland Dervish, were securing recently vacated ATMIS bases and preparing for intensified anti-terrorism operations in the region. They swiftly countered the aggression, maintaining their position and ensuring stability in the area.

The Ministry of Defense issued a statement condemning the attack and accusing Ahmed Madoobe of collaborating with al-Shabaab terrorists. The Ministry explained that there was no way Ahmed’s forces could have reached Raskamboni without coordinating with al-Shabaab, as the militants control the area between Ahmed’s troops and the SNA positions. Al-Shabaab reportedly allowed Ahmed’s forces to pass through their territory to carry out the assault, underscoring a dangerous alliance.

The Ministry emphasized that such actions severely undermine national security and represent a betrayal of Somalia’s sovereignty. It vowed that all those involved in these subversive acts would face “severe legal punishment.”

The Federal Government of Somalia reiterated its commitment to defending its armed forces and continuing operations aimed at eliminating terrorist threats in all regions of the country. Anti-terror operations in Lower Juba will proceed with renewed determination to safeguard the safety and security of Somali citizens and their property.

SONNA will provide further updates as developments unfold.
