KIGALI (SONNA) – The Commander of the Somali National Army’s Ground Forces, Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar (General Khalid), held a significant meeting with his Nigerian counterpart, the Nigerian Army Chief, Major General Usman Abdulmumin Yusuf, in Kigali, Rwanda.
The meeting between the two military leaders focused on strengthening the cooperative relationship between the armed forces of Somalia and Nigeria. Discussions centered on key strategic areas, particularly counter-terrorism operations, the exchange of combat experience, and enhancing troop training initiatives.
Both commanders agreed to expand the partnership between their respective forces, acknowledging that both nations confront a common enemy in the form of terrorist groups that share similar characteristics. They emphasized the importance of unifying their efforts to eradicate these elements that seek to destabilize their countries.
This high-level engagement is part of the Somali National Army’s broader strategy to reinforce international cooperation in security and the fight against terrorism.
