Rustenburg, (SONNA) — The Ambassador of the Federal Government of Somalia to South Africa, H.E. Mohamed Sheikh Ishaaq, on Saturday attended the 113th anniversary celebrations of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC), held in the city of Rustenburg in the North West Province.
The high-profile event was attended by South African President H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, senior government officials, cabinet ministers, diplomats from various foreign missions, youth representatives, athletes, and members from all segments of society.
The Somali Ambassador was accompanied by the Chairperson of the North West Somali Community, Mustafa Shirwac. During his visit to the province, Ambassador Mohamed Sheikh Ishaaq also assessed the situation and welfare of the Somali community residing in the North West Province.
The anniversary celebrations featured symbolic displays, including the Palestinian flag. Participants—government officials, organizers, and guests—voiced solidarity with the Palestinian people, chanting slogans calling for freedom for Palestine and victory for its people.
