Abdi Karim Ahmed Mohamed, officially presented his letters of credence to His Majesty King Harald V of Norway. The formal ceremony took place at the Royal Palace in Oslo, marking the commencement of the Ambassador’s diplomatic mandate in the country.
During the audience with the King, Ambassador Abdi Karim conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The ensuing discussion focused on strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between the two nations. Both the King and the Ambassador expressed a mutual commitment to deepening political and diplomatic cooperation to address shared challenges and opportunities.
Ambassador Abdi Karim, who maintains his primary residence in Sweden, serves as the representative for the Federal Government of Somalia across the Nordic region, including Norway. His accreditation is seen as a vital step in maintaining robust diplomatic channels throughout Northern Europe.
Following the royal ceremony, the Ambassador held a meeting with members of the Somali diaspora community in Norway. He provided a comprehensive briefing on the embassy’s functions and the specific consular services available to them. The Ambassador placed particular emphasis on the improvements being made regarding the processing of essential documents and passports, assuring the community of the embassy’s dedication to facilitating their needs.
Prior to presenting his credentials, Ambassador Abdi Karim also held high-level discussions with officials from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to align on key areas of partnership.
