Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia –SONNA: Somalia’s non-resident Ambassador to Mongolia, Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi, conducted a series of high-level meetings this week with senior Mongolian government officials to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
The ambassador first met with Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms. Battsetseg Batmunkh, where discussions centered on enhancing economic cooperation. Both parties identified promising opportunities in trade, particularly regarding Somali exports of agricultural products, seafood, and other commodities.
In a separate meeting with Mongolia’s Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Purevsurengiin Naranbayar, the discussions focused on educational collaboration. Mongolia’s remarkable 95% literacy rate and its internationally recognized online education program were highlighted as potential models for cooperation.
Ambassador Abdi emphasized Somalia’s commitment to building strong partnerships, stating: “These meetings have laid important groundwork for future cooperation in areas of mutual benefit to both our nations.”
The talks mark a significant step in fostering diplomatic and economic ties between Somalia and Mongolia, with both sides expressing optimism about future collaboration.
