Beijing (SONNA): The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to China, Ambassador Cawale Ali Kullane, participated today in the 13th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (COIFAI) held in Beijing. This year’s fair coincides with China’s new development concept of “Belt and Road Initiative,” which aims to create a new era of trade, investment, and development. The event, organized by the China Overseas Development Association (CODA), brought together more than 500 delegates from various countries to discuss and explore the opportunities and benefits of Somalia’s participation in China’s new “Belt and Road Initiative.Ambassador Kullane, in his speech at the fair, emphasized the importance of the partnership between Somalia and China and highlighted the significance of China’s investment in both countries. He also expressed gratitude to Mr. He Zhenwei, the Chairman of CODA, for his dedicated efforts and praised the organization’s commitment to promoting cooperation and global investment projects.
Furthermore, Ambassador Kullane acknowledged Somalia’s strategic position in connecting Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, emphasizing the potential for economic growth and trade relations. He highlighted the revitalization of the Port of Mogadishu, which has become a hub for trade and investment, and expressed his desire for Somalia to benefit from various sectors, including agriculture, fisheries, livestock, minerals, and renewable energy, through increased investment.
He stated that the country aims to develop comprehensive transportation networks, such as roads and airports, with the support of China, facilitating the movement of goods and enhancing trade ties between the two nations. Ambassador Kullane commended the promising prospects for mutual benefits, including job creation and increased exports, and called on Chinese companies to invest in Somalia’s growing economy, promoting win-win cooperation and contributing to the country’s development.
The ambassador also emphasized the significant role of agriculture in Somalia’s economic advancement. He urged China to invest in agricultural technologies and agribusiness to harness the potential of Somalia’s fertile land and exploit opportunities for food security and job creation.
The fruitful discussions and cooperation between Somalia and China highlighted the importance of fostering bilateral relations for mutual prosperity. Ambassador Kullane expressed his deep appreciation to the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (COIFAIR) for organizing the event successfully and envisioned a stronger partnership between China and Somalia in the future.
