Baku, SONNA — On behalf of the Somali government, Somalia’s Ambassador to Turkey and non-resident Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Fathudin Ali Mohamed Ospite, extended heartfelt condolences to the government of Azerbaijan and the families affected by the tragic Azerbaijan Airlines crash on Wednesday.
The crash involved flight J2-8243, which was en route from Baku to Grozny and diverted to Aktau for an emergency landing before crashing near the city. Of the 67 people on board, including 62 passengers and five crew members, preliminary reports indicate that 32 survivors have been identified, with some in critical condition. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
Ambassador Fathudin conveyed Somalia’s solidarity with Azerbaijan during this difficult time and wished a swift recovery for the injured.
