Mogadishu, Somalia – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre visited the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) booth at the Dan-Qaran Government’s Performance Exhibition (2022-2025) in Mogadishu. The visit was part of a broader inspection of the achievements of government institutions over the past three years.
During their tour, the President and Prime Minister were briefed by the Commissioner of SoDMA, Mr. Mohamud Moallin Abdulle, who highlighted the agency’s critical role in responding to humanitarian crises. The Commissioner provided a concise overview of SoDMA’s operations, particularly its swift emergency relief efforts for thousands of families affected by the nation’s severe droughts and floods.
Mr. Abdulle also detailed the agency’s long-term development projects, which are focused on building and modernizing critical aid infrastructure, such as state-of-the-art warehouses. These initiatives are designed to improve the efficiency and reach of future humanitarian responses, ensuring that aid can be delivered more effectively to those in need.
In their remarks, the President and Prime Minister commended SoDMA’s exemplary work, acknowledging the tireless efforts of the agency’s staff. They emphasized that disaster management and humanitarian relief are key priorities for the Federal Government of Somalia, reaffirming a commitment to assisting the most vulnerable populations across the country.
