MOGADISHU – The Commissioner of the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mohamud Moallin Abudlle, has announced the appointment of two new directors to key departments within the agency, a move aimed at strengthening the country’s capacity to address humanitarian and development challenges. The appointments are part of an ongoing effort by the commissioner to build a robust leadership team at SoDMA.
The first appointee is Ibrahim Abdullahi Ahmed (Sheellare), who has been named the Director of the Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) Department. A veteran journalist and a prominent figure with a long and distinguished history in the media sector, he was also among the individuals who played a significant role in the founding of SoDMA. His experience is expected to be instrumental in enhancing the agency’s ability to communicate vital information to the public swiftly and accurately during emergencies, thereby strengthening SoDMA’s overall operational efficiency.
The second key appointment is Mr. Abubakar Ahmed Mohamed, who will now serve as the Director of the Food Security and Social Protection Department. This department is a vital part of SoDMA’s mission to address the severe impacts of drought and conflict on vulnerable populations.
In his remarks, Commissioner Abudlle urged both directors to perform their duties with the highest level of honesty, dedication, and responsibility. He expressed confidence in their ability to meet the significant challenges ahead and contribute to the agency’s mission of serving the Somali people.
