JALALAQSI (SONNA) – The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) and the African Risk Capacity (ARC) have jointly launched a major food distribution project in the Hirshabelle State of Somalia.
The program, which is scheduled to last for three months, is designed to provide critical humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations in the region.
The first phase of the distribution has commenced in the districts of Jalalaqsi and Bala’ad. According to a statement from the agencies, this initial phase has already successfully reached 5,705 families residing in the two districts, addressing their immediate food security needs.
This joint operation is part of a strategic partnership between SoDMA and ARC. The collaboration focuses on enhancing the delivery of humanitarian aid, ensuring that support reaches people in need in the most effective and timely manner possible.
SoDMA is leading the national effort to respond to humanitarian challenges and build resilience against disasters, working closely with international partners like ARC to provide life-saving support.
The food distribution program in Hirshabelle is expected to continue over the next three months, aiming to support thousands more families affected by food insecurity in the region.
