Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Danab Special Forces of the Somali National Army (SNA) and the Jubaland Darawish, supported by international partners, today conducted an operation in which 19 Al-Shabaab terrorists were eliminated in the Baqooqaha area, approximately 13km west of Bulo Xaaji in the Lower Juba region. The forces, now in full control of the area, continue to clear Al-Shabaab hideouts and tunnels, recovering the bodies of the enemies of the Somali people.

Over the past five days alone, planned operations and successive airstrikes have resulted in the elimination of more than 50 Al-Shabaab fighters, delivering a significant blow to the terrorists who have long tormented innocent civilians.

Two brave soldiers of the Somali Armed Forces paid the ultimate sacrifice during these operations, while five others sustained injuries. We pray to Allah to grant His mercy and paradise to our fallen heroes and a swift recovery to the wounded.

The Ministry of Defence reiterates its unwavering commitment to eradicating the Al-Shabaab threat and ensuring the security and stability of the Somali people.
