Mogadishu, (SONNA) — Somali National Army (SNA) forces, in collaboration with Ugandan troops under the African Union Stabilization Support Mission in Somalia (ASSOM), have achieved a major military success by capturing the strategic areas of Sabid and Anole from Al-Shabaab militants in the Lower Shabelle region.
The well-coordinated and carefully executed operation forced Al-Shabaab fighters to abandon their positions, allowing allied forces to take full control of the territory. The joint troops are now conducting security clearance and stabilization operations to ensure the protection of civilians and maintain peace in the liberated areas.
Military officials described the victory as a critical milestone in the ongoing national campaign to eliminate terrorism and reinforce state authority in southern Somalia.
“This success demonstrates the steadfast efforts to defeat Al-Shabaab and to lay the foundations for a peaceful and orderly state,” said the Somali National Army Command in an official statement.
