Baraawe, (SONNA) — Joint forces from the Somali National Army (SNA) and South West State’s Darawish troops carried out a successful planned operation targeting Al-Shabaab militants on the outskirts of Baraawe, approximately 40 kilometers from the city center.
The operation, which struck key militant hideouts, was led by Commander of the 25th Battalion, Lt. Col. Cali Degal, Commander of the South West Darawish Forces, Aadan Yusuf Baroon, and the District Stabilization Commander, Ibrahim Hassan Geladow.
According to military officials speaking to state media, the operation resulted in the militants being driven out of a large area they previously controlled. The mission is part of sustained efforts to liberate areas around Baraawe from extremist control.
Both federal and regional forces have intensified their military campaigns against Al-Shabaab in the Southwest region, reaffirming their commitment to restoring security and stability across the region.
