Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Units of the Somali National Army (SNA), the 242nd and 243rd battalions, have conducted a wide-scale security operation in the areas of Jilib Qoodhiley, Qori Madoobe, and Cali Yabaal—all located in the Galgaduud region.
Commanders of the units, Captain Bashiir Qorane of the 242nd Battalion and Captain Cabdi Daahir Xirsi of the 243rd, stated that the aim of the operation was to preempt attacks planned by Al-Shabaab militants who have routinely targeted innocent civilians.
During the operation, the army destroyed several Al-Shabaab hideouts and confirmed that the targeted areas are now secure. The successful mission is part of ongoing national efforts to clear terrorist threats and restore stability across Somalia.
