Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali National Army (SNA) announced that at around 7:00 a.m. today, its forces conducted a planned operation in Warta Eey Duure, approximately 30 km north of Xudur in Bakool region, killing a senior al-Shabaab commander.
The militant leader, identified as Cabdullaahi Abuukar Cali, was among the group’s top figures in the region. He previously held various positions within al-Shabaab in Bakool and was most recently serving as the group’s head of finance in the region. He was also responsible for forcibly recruiting children into the militant ranks.
According to the SNA Command, the targeted operation destroyed an al-Shabaab network operating in the area, marking another blow to the group’s presence in Bakool.
