Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali National Army (SNA) has confirmed the death of Abaas Mohamed Hool, a senior Al-Shabaab commander responsible for planning and executing numerous attacks across the Banaadir region and both Lower and Middle Shabelle.
Hool succumbed to injuries sustained during a targeted military operation conducted by the Somali forces earlier this year. According to officials, complications from those injuries, combined with illness, led to his death.
He joined the Al-Shabaab terrorist group in 2007 in Mogadishu and played a key role in orchestrating ruthless attacks against civilians in the capital. Somali intelligence services had long identified him as one of the group’s most dangerous figures and had compiled detailed intelligence on his operations.
The Somali National Army stressed that no Al-Shabaab leader will evade justice and vowed to continue its operations until all terrorist elements are eliminated from the country.
