Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Macawisley community forces operating in Xarardheere district conducted a planned operation last night, directly targeting Al-Shabaab militants hiding in the village of Dumaaye in Mudug region.
The operation resulted in the neutralisation of six Al-Shabaab fighters, and the forces recovered weapons and military supplies previously used by the group to threaten and harm civilians. The recovered materiel included four AK-47 riflesalongside other ammunition and equipment.
In a separate incident, the Somali National Army (SNA) successfully disrupted a suicide attack attempted by Al-Shabaab in the vicinity of Dabagalo, located approximately 35 kilometres north-west of Xarardheere. The SNA thwarted the group’s efforts to destabilise security in the area.
Additionally, another security operation took place along the route connecting Garasweyne and Moragabey – around 37 kilometres west of Xudur in Bakool region where government forces engaged an Al-Shabaab cell. The operation resulted in the elimination of five militants, including several key commanders, and the seizure of two AK-47 rifles and other military items.

The Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Army Command commend the continued efforts of the SNA and Macawisley forces in dismantling the remaining networks of Al-Shabaab. The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to sustaining offensive operations until the Somali people can live under conditions of lasting peace, stability, and security.
