Mogadishu (SONNA):The Somali National Army in coordination with US Africa command (AFRICOM) launched an airstrike targeting an al-Shabaab militant near Jilib town, southern Somalia. SONNA Reported
The airstrike resulted in the killing of a senior Al-Shabaab commander , yet no civilian casualties were mentioned according to AFRICOM.
This airstrike comes in a series of successful operations against Al-Shabaab militants in efforts to eradicate the terrorist group from the region.
In an official press release, US Africa command deputy director of operations said “our collective efforts help to enhance security in the region and to put Al-Shabaab on notice”.
The federal government of Somalia in partnership with the United States is committed to counter terrorist organizations to eliminate violence and maintain peace and security in the region.
