Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Speaker of Somalia’s Upper House, H.E. Abdi Hashi, today welcomed the new European Union Ambassador to Somalia, Francesca Di Mauro, accompanied by her Political Affairs Deputy, Karin Gatt-Rutter, at his office.
The meeting focused on deepening cooperation between Somalia and the EU, particularly in political development, legislation, constitutional review, and other priorities for the Upper House.
Speaker Abdi Hashi briefed the Ambassador on the Senate’s legislative agenda, including key laws supporting state-building and good governance, with special emphasis on completing the remaining chapters of the Provisional Constitution.
Ambassador Di Mauro praised the Senate’s efforts in approving critical state-building legislation and reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to closely support Somalia’s federal government with political and technical assistance.
