Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) today hosted a conference for contractors bidding on a key project aimed at upgrading the Authority’s telecommunications and technology infrastructure. The event brought together competing firms vying to lead the modernization of SCAA’s communication systems in line with next-generation technology standards.
During the conference, SCAA outlined its strategic plan to transition to advanced, next-gen communication systems to improve operational efficiency, safety, and service delivery. The initiative forms part of the Authority’s broader efforts to enhance aviation services and raise the standard of trust and reliability in Somalia’s civil aviation sector.
Director General of the SCAA, Mr. Ahmed Moallin Hassan, emphasized that the project’s goal is to modernize aviation operations through cutting-edge technology, ensuring the Authority meets international benchmarks.
The session also included a virtual briefing by ICAO experts and the project coordinator, Zakariye Farah, who responded to technical questions from participating companies and provided detailed clarifications on project expectations.
This initiative is expected to significantly boost service delivery, strengthen regional aviation connectivity, and contribute to Somalia’s economic growth through improved air navigation capabilities.
