San Diego, CA: The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the United States is pleased to share that the County of San Diego’s Second District, California, has officially proclaimed December 13, 2024, as “H.E. Ambassador Dahir Hassan Abdi Day.” Supervisor Joel Anderson, who represents San Diego County’s Second District, presented this honor recognizing the deep ties between Somalia and San Diego County.
San Diego is home to one of the largest Somali communities in the United States, with over 30,000 East African refugees welcomed annually.
