Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The District Commissioner of Ruun-Nirgood in the Middle Shabelle region, Macallin Muxudiin Kulmiye, has provided details on a planned military operation carried out early this morning in the district, which inflicted heavy losses on Al-Shabaab militants.
Speaking to the National Media, Commissioner Kulmiye confirmed that the operation was meticulously planned and successfully targeted a key Al-Shabaab base, which has now been seized by government forces. He noted that the Somali National Army, alongside local forces, is continuing security operations to stabilize the area.
He added that the militants’ defensive positions were destroyed during the offensive, and security in Ruun-Nirgood is now firmly under the control of government and local forces.
Operations against Al-Shabaab terrorists are ongoing across various hideouts, where several militants and key commanders who posed a threat to civilians have been eliminated. National forces are intensifying efforts to bring an end to the presence of the terrorist group.
