Bari, (SONNA) – On the first day of Eid al-Adha, Puntland’s elite Darawish forces launched a coordinated military operation targeting ISIS militants in the Baallade Valley and the surrounding mountainous areas.
The offensive was jointly executed by the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th battalions of the Darawish forces, with significant air support from international partners backing Somalia’s federal government. The airstrikes targeted key ISIS positions, destroying strategic facilities, underground supply depots, and militant hideouts.
Puntland authorities confirmed that the operation inflicted substantial losses on the militants and dismantled several of their operational strongholds.
This mission is part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts by Puntland security forces aimed at eradicating ISIS and other extremist groups from the region.
